We strongly condemn the terrorist attack which targeted the Shiite pilgrims, who were returning from Karbala, near Hilla in the south of Baghdad, and resulted in numerous deaths or injuries.

We wish God’s mercy upon those who lost their lives in the attack, convey our condolences to their families and hope for a speedy recovery of the wounded.

Turkey will continue to be in cooperation and solidarity with the Government of Iraq in the fight against terrorist organisations and terrorists threatening our region, regardless of religion, sect and ethnic origin.
