We have learned with sadness that Mr. Enver Fahri Kerim, parliamentary candidate of the Kirkuk Turkmen Front, was attacked by unidentified gunmen on Kirkuk-Baghdad highway on the evening of April 12th. While Mr.Kerim escaped uninjured, his driver remains in critical conditions.

We strongly condemn this heinous attack targeting our Turkmen brother. We reiterate our call upon the Iraqi authorities to take the necessary measures without delay to prevent the escalating attacks on Turkmens, who are one of the constituent parts of Iraq, and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
